What is the cost of the meal plan?
All undergraduate students under age 22 that reside in the residence halls are required to participate in the Declining Balance Meal Plan. Students that receive residence hall-rate tuition assistance from Andrews University must be on a meal plan regardless of age. The cost of the dorm meal plan is $2,075 per semester, which will provide two meals per day for most students.
What if I don’t need the full $2,075 per semester?
There are no refunds on the meal plan
What if I need more than the $2,075 during the semester?
If your meal plan balance runs low during the semester you may add funds to the meal plan in $50 increments, this can be done at the Dining Service office.
What if I lose my ID card?
If you lose your ID card, please contact the Dining Services Office immediately to report it lost. Dining Services can place a hold on your card so no one else can use it. You may also visit www.andrews.edu/go/mvid to report your card lost or stolen. Students on a meal plan may purchase a temporary ID card worth $25.00 plus a $2.00 fee which is deducted from your meal plan. This is available from the Dining Services Office during office hours.
If I am 22 or older or not living in the dorm, do I have option besides the meal plan?
Students over the age of 22 who are not receiving the Andrew University tuition assistance rate, or not living in the dorm may open a café account. There is no Dining Services operations fee for this account, and it does not entitle the student to a discount off of meal prices. See the Café Accounts page for more details.
Who can open a Café Account?
Students over the age of 22 who do not receive the Andrews University tuition assistance dorm rate, or not living in the dorm may open a café account. Students must be enrolled and cleared before opening an account. A non-refundable bonus of 5% is awarded when $400.00 or more is added to a café account. (i.e. $400 opening balance will get you an extra $20.00 in bonus). A loyalty card is also given, which entitles you to a free meal after the 10th punch. This must be renewed every semester to continue participating in this program.
How do I open a Café Account?
You may open a café account through registration central or you may open a café account at the Dining Services office with a check, or credit card payment.
How much does a Café Account cost?
We ask that you open your café account with a minimum of $50.00. Money may be added to an existing café account in any amount of $10.00 or more.
How do I add money to my account?
You may add money with cash, check, or credit card at the Dining Services office anytime during office hours or you may talk with your student financial advisor and request an e-mail be sent to Dining Services to charge your statement for the increase.
Is my Café Account refundable?
You may request a full refund for the balance on your café account at any time. Your balance will be refunded in the manner in which it was paid for. Keep in mind that the bonus cash offer is non-refundable.
What are the advantages of the Café Account?
Having a Café Account eliminates the need to carry cash, plus you will save 6% on every purchase as you do not pay tax when you use your café account. You may use your café account for purchases at the Terrace Café, Gazebo, Convenience store and vending machines. In addition, special offers and pricing will be offered to you throughout the school year. Submit your contact information when you open your account to recieve these specials.
What if I lose my ID card?
If you lose your ID card, contact the Dining Services office immediately to report it lost. Dining Services can place a hold on your card so no one else can use it. You will need to pay for any purchases with cash, check or credit card until you find or replace your ID card. If you replace your ID card, any remaining balance will automatically transfer to the new card.
What happens to my Café Account at the end of the semester?
Your Café account will stay open for both Fall and Spring Semester. Café account refunds will refund to student statements after the end of Spring Semester and August 14 for Summer Café account.
